Is it safe?

San Jose is a safe city visited by millions of foreign tourists every year. The Costa Rican government also provides additional security and policing in major tourist areas to ensure the safety of foreign guests.

What are the Current Entry Requirements in Costa Rica?

As of 1 April 2022, Costa Rica removed all additional entry requirements for travelers related to COVID-19.
Travelers only need to have a valid passport and a proof of exit intent, meaning a ticket out of the country, within 90 days.

How do I get there?

Getting into San José:
San José's Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) boasts direct flights from 14 Major International Airports in the United States and 2 in Canada.

From the Airport:

Getting Around

Uber is the best way to get around in San José, Costa Rica. To download the Uber app, you will need to have a smartphone or other device that is compatible with the app. You can then go to the app store on your device (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store) and search for "Uber." Select the app from the search results and then follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it.
